Its time to clean up your smile and whiten those teeth
As we age our teeth get brown. This is added to by infrequent dental visits and not
brushing our teeth often enough. So now we have brownish teeth and we don’t look as wonderful as we wish we did when we were younger.

Teeth look great when as white as they can go at any age
I have found that it doesn’t matter how old we get or how many wrinkles we have, when I see someone older smile and they have wonderful white teeth, I just think ‘Wow’, I hope I look that good when I grow old. But then I get to thinking, hang on! I don’t have that many wrinkles yet, what if I cleaned my teeth up now? Then I can look good all the time.
So I did my research on the internet as well as phoning my local dentist to find out how much it costs. My local dentist is very honest, bluntly honest! He did a course on bleaching treatments himself and you put the bleach on the clients teeth and then set up laser lights to help whiten the teeth. He said it was a two hour process and it bored him to tears.
He actually likes to work on people teeth and so for him he could not stand sitting around waiting for teeth to whiten, so he told me to go away. Nicely of course. I was appreciative of his honesty though, because he also told me that we require follow up treatments that we do at home ourselves and that it generally only lasts 6 months anyway.
So I continued with my research. Apparently the supermarket whiteners cannot stay on the teeth for very long and they use a different type of bleach.
I figured that if I could use what the dentists use, and do the treatments at home myself then I would be able to do just as good a job as my dentist. And not have him bored with the process! ![]()
I surfed the net and found the professional treatments and ordered a kit. I had a lot of problems making up the kit teeth mould as it is VERY difficult to do. I chose Nova White as the best product with a 35% strength whitening gel.
So I headed back to my local, grumpy, honest dentist and got him to make up a real mould that fitted me properly that I could use for bleaching my teeth. My dentist was happy to do this as it is ‘real dental’ work and kept him busy. It cost me $25 for the top, and $25 for the bottom. If you have dental work done on the top or bottom of your teeth then the shape of your mould may not fit on your teeth properly so it may be necessary for you to have more moulds made up in future as you have dental work done.
So now I was ready to get down to business. My local, grumpy, honest dentist had pointed out to me the teeth that would not whiten as they had previously had grey fillings inside them and had becomed stained. Did you know that grey fillings can actually make your teeth look darker? I got my dentist to change my front viewing teeth over to white fillings to help whiten them. Scientifically white fillings are not as hard as grey fillings and will last about 10 to 15 years before requiring replacement.
Anyway, back to the teeth. My moulds fitted wonderfully and the bleach worked too. I left them on either the top or the bottom for two hours each night. Sometimes I would leave it two or three days before I did it again as the gums need a break from the bleach. I treated myself this way for about two weeks and then stopped.
I was amazed by how much my teeth whitened up. I am very very happy with the finished product. ![]()
They have now been white for about 5 months and are looking like they might need a treatment again.
The
one to buy is just the refill kits. There is no need to buy the full kit as the plastic teeth moulds that you make with hot water are not worth it. Pick up the phone now and make an appointment to see your local, grumpy, honest dentist and tell him that you want teeth moulds made up so that you can bleach your teeth. Oh and ask the price first.
Then jump online and order your refill bleach. I keep mine in the fridge so that I can use them later. 3 syringes of bleach is plenty for your first dosage of cleaning. Nova White are based in Singapore and they are nice and prompt with postage so it doesn’t take long to get here. I bought the 35% strength. If you have sensitive gums then I would suggest that you get a reduced strength.
Bleaching my teeth also made me think of the long term consequences of keeping my teeth clean. I now always make sure that I brush my teeth every morning and every night. I still drink tea, coffee and red wine but I make sure that I never go to bed without cleaning my teeth. I used to have the habit of cleaning my teeth at night and then having an orange juice afterwards. Wrong thing to do to keep white teeth! Brushing should be the last activity at night.
A friend of mine that has totally drop dead gorgeous teeth, was blessed with a mother that forced her to go to the dentist to have her teeth cleaned every year. She still does it to this day and I have decided to copy her as well. A simple clean and polish at your local dentist will help get rid of some of the other marks that the bleach won’t get rid of.
Oh well, as my lovely dentist would say, ‘Take care and Bless You!’. And from me ‘Good luck and get your teeth whitened, it is a blessing and a dream come true’.
